Terms of Service

Terms of Use

By creating a teacher account in the FlinnSTEM™ program for access to any FlinnSTEM™ course, you agree to the following terms of use:
  1. Only state certified science teachers, science department employees, and school administrators may create a teacher account in the FlinnSTEM™ program.
  2. All teacher registrants will be verified by Flinn Scientific for teaching status and activated upon verification. Any registrant that is unable to be verified by Flinn Scientific will be prompted to contact Flinn directly to activate an account.
  3. Included with a teacher account in the FlinnSTEM™ program is the ability to preview all FlinnSTEM™ course unit module content at no charge. This preview is made available so that state certified science teachers, science department employees, and school administrators can view content in order to determine if a specific FlinnSTEM™ course would be appropriate to assign or recommend to their students.
  4. All FlinnSTEM™ course material, including written text, figures and images, video content, animations, and assessment questions and answers are subject to copyright by Flinn Scientific, Inc. Any user who violates this copyright could be subject to legal action. Using the protected content for any reason other than the intended purpose as stated by Flinn Scientific, Inc. can be interpreted as a violation of the copyright. All teacher account users of the FlinnSTEM™ program may not print and distribute any of the contained course material, including written text, images and figures, quick quizzes, and assessments. All teacher account users of the FlinnSTEM™ program are also prohibited from saving digital copies of the protected content to their local device. Free previews of any course material through a teacher account within the FlinnSTEM™ program are to be viewed by only the teachers, science department employees, or school administrators on their local machine or mobile device. The protected content within all FlinnPREP™ courses are not to be shown to students either on a classroom projection system, smart board, or through any other system of digital content distribution..
  5. Access to this FlinnSTEM™ program teacher account and all the information and privileges that come with that access are limited to only the individual who has created the account. Login ID’s and password information are not to be shared with other individuals.
  6. Flinn Scientific, Inc. may update content within a FlinnSTEM™ module from time to time. These edits will be made if there was a grammatical or technical error found.
  7. Flinn Scientific Inc. was not involved with nor is responsible for the content on outside educational resource sites.

Terms of Use – Student

By creating a Student account in the FlinnPREP™ program for access to any FlinnPREP™ or FlinnSAFETY™ course, you agree to the following terms of use:
  1. Some courses in FlinnPREP™ program include a free sample unit to view. Users must be logged into the FlinnPREP™ program to view any of the available sample unit content. The sample units contain an assessment at the end which you may complete without purchasing a course. If a user chooses to purchase a course at a later date any assessment results compiled during the completion of a sample unit will be retained.
  2. FlinnPREP™ courses and FlinnSAFETY™ courses may be purchased by a user in a student account with a valid credit card. Students under 18 must get a parents permission before submitting credit card information in the FlinnPREP™ program.
  3. After a purchase is completed by a user of a student account in the FlinnPREP™ program, the user will receive notification via the email address used at sign-up that will contain a registration key to unlock a course. A unique registration key is assigned to each course purchased.
  4. A student will have 365 days of access to a FlinnPREP™ or FlinnSAFETY™ course from the day that a registration key for any course is activated. After 365 days has expired the user will still have access to the course assessment results and diagnostic reports, but will no longer have access to the course content.
  5. A certificate of completion for each FlinnPREP™ and FlinnSAFETY™ course will be awarded to a student user only after they have successfully completed each end-of-unit assessment with a passing score of 80%.
  6. All FlinnPREP™ and FlinnSAFETY™ course material, including written text, figures and images, video content, animations, and assessment questions and answers are subject to copyright by Flinn Scientific, Inc.   8. A discussion board is included in the FlinnPREP™ program for both users with a student account and users with a teacher account. Discussion boards are only available to teachers and students that have been linked to a classroom through teacher account. The user who created the FlinnPREP™ or FlinnSAFETY™ course classroom in their FlinnPREP™ program teacher account is responsible for monitoring and removing comments that they feel to be inappropriate. Flinn Scientific, Inc. is not responsible for moderating information that is added to a FlinnPREP™ program discussion board. Teacher account users of the FlinnPREP™ program are responsible for providing student users with proper guidelines for discussion board use.
  9. Flinn Scientific, Inc. may update content within a FlinnPREP™ course or a FlinnSAFETY™ course from time to time.
  10. FlinnSAFETY™ courses identify and discuss the most common safety issues that students face in an educational laboratory environment. Common-sense solutions to each safety problem are discussed. The goal of these courses is to create a safe learning environment for instructors and their students. FlinnSAFETY™ courses encourage hands-on science while seeking to help prevent or minimize injuries in the laboratory.
    The material contained in the FlinnSAFETY™ courses is intended to provide basic guidelines in laboratory science safety. It cannot be assumed that all necessary warnings and precautionary measures will be discussed in these courses. Viewers should always consult local, state, and federal laws and regulations prior to initiating any new safety training.
